Sequoyah’s Cinderella Season ended Saturday night in the AAAAAA State Tournament Final. The Chiefs lost a heartbreaker in an extremely close match with Allatoona 25-21 21-25 27-29 25-17 12-15 played at Marietta High School. The two Region 6 schools battled back and forth throughout the match with momentum swinging seemingly every few minutes. The Chiefs came about as close as a team can get without winning the match. Allatoona was returning to the Final as last season’s runner up while Sequoyah was rebuilding with more than half of this year’s team playing varsity for the first time.
The fans were great with their support for the team who came ever so close in a season that no one had any idea of expectations. Sequoyah won the opening season Sequoyah Classic, the County Championship, and the Region 6 Championship. It was a great season for the Lady Chiefs who look to continue their success in 2020.
