Sequoyah was one of fifteen golf teams that participated in the Chris Kirk Classic Wednesday at Eagle Watch in Woodstock. Five members participated from each school along with a few individual golfers from schools not sending a full team. The Chiefs finished in the middle of the group, but they continued to improve leading up to the County and Area tournaments. For the first time this season each Sequoyah golfer shot better than his average. Sophomore Joseph Trlica had another strong performance bettering his 18 hole average by 7 strokes. Junior Thomas Brumbeloe finished 3rd overall out of more than 75 golfers with an Even Par 72. Senior Hunter Clay also posted a score in the 70’s while Ryan Wakefield and Brock O’Connor also improved on their season averages. Most of the competition was from the better golf teams in Class 7A which was very good practice as Sequoyah tries to make a statement at the end of the season in Class 6A.
