Game Recap

The Sequoyah Chiefs fell to 0-2 in the Dalton Thanksgiving Tournament as they fell to host Dalton by a score of 60-49. The game was nip and tuck throughout with neither team taken control. The score was 50-49 with 1:51 to go. The Catamounts scored the last 10 points of the game to take a hard earned victory. Dalton, which boasts two 6’9” posts and a 6’6” wing controlled the glass against the smaller Chiefs. 6’9” post Jager Dickson lead the Cats with 16 points followed by fellow 6’9” post Hunter Brummell with 15. Nasir Live Porter contributed 13 and Jalen Westfield chipped in with 11. The Chiefs were lead by Jackson Greco and Donavan Shipp who tallied 20 and 17 respectively. Coach Allen Carden was pleased with the effort of his young team and quipped “I was real proud of how we competed tonight. We were right there with 2 minutes to play but couldn’t execute against their big front line. A play here or there the last two nights and we could have two victories. We are competing and are right there we just have to get over the hump.” The Chiefs finish up the Tourney on Wednesday with a 3:00 start vs Adairsville High school.
