Game Recap

The Sequoyah Chiefs opened their Region schedule with a tough 70-55 loss to defending Region Champions Allatoona High School at home on Tuesday. The young Chiefs(1-3) fought tough and nail all game long but struggled to keep pace in the 4th quarter. The score was tied at 35 all at the half as the Chiefs penetrated the Bucs match up zone for easy baskets. Sequoyah hung tough as they went into the 4th down 52-46. Allatoona (2-2) pulled away in the 4th outscoring the Chiefs 35-21 in the second half. Coach Allen Carden was proud of his young Chiefs and the way they battled. “We came out ready to play and were right there in the game. We missed some easy shots and had some Turnovers that hurt us there in the 3rd quarter. We have to find a way to concentrate and put 4 good quarters together. Hopefully, we will continue to work hard and get better at those things. It doesn’t get any easier from here on out”. The Chiefs were lead by Jackson Greco with 17 points. Donavan Shipp had 9 and Myles McGee had 8. The Chiefs get back into action as they travel to county rival Creekview on Friday. Game time is 730.

Game Recap

The Sequoyah Chiefs got their first victory of the season with a wire to wire win over Adairsville by a score of 76-58. The win gave them a 1-2 record in the Dalton Thanksgiving Tournament player at Dalton High School. The Chiefs started out strong and never let up as they built a 46-24 lead at the half. Myles McGee lead all scorers with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Arthur Parker had 14 including 4 threes. Jackson Greco also chipped in 14 and Donavan Shipp had 10 points and 10 assists. Shipp was selected to the All-Tournament team for his play in the three games. Coach Allen Carden said about the victory “we came out ready and focused especially on the defensive end. Myles played with energy on both ends. And Donavan just had a great game running the show. We got a lot out of this tournament, now we got to get back to work and get ready for Allatoona on Tuesday “. The Chiefs will be at home next Tuesday 11/28 when they host the Allatoona Bucs at the WarLodge.
